Enjoy the spiritual peace of Holy Island, the cradle of Christianity in England and the original home of the Lindisfarne Gospels, one of the finest surviving examples of Celtic art
The islands are the summer home of four of our five species of British tern and the breeding grounds for gulls, shags, eider ducks, fulmar petrel, guillemot, cormorant, oyster catchers, puffins, ringed plover and a very large grey seal colony
This is the ideal location for bird watching, walking, fishing, light railway, corn mill, castle, the battlefield, cycling, the nature reserve, the heritage trail and so much more.
River trips to view the three bridges, riverside fortifications, Georgian Quay Walls and Tweed estuary. Also available, when high tide permits, are trips upstream to Union Chain Bridge.
